Bye-bye: Chelsea now plan to accept permanent offer to sell “very good” £100,000-a-week player

Chelsea and their manager, Enzo Maresca, are preparing to make a permanent transfer decision in January, after failing to offload a player over the summer window.

Chelsea Secure a Win Over Bournemouth

In their recent match against Bournemouth, Chelsea managed a hard-fought 1-0 victory, with substitutes Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku playing key roles. Sancho provided the assist, and Nkunku finished late in the game, securing the three points. Despite being outplayed for most of the match, the result continued Chelsea’s promising start to the Premier League season under Maresca, putting them in 8th place after four games, with their only loss coming against Manchester City.

Focus Shifts to Transfers

As usual, transfer news continues to swirl around Chelsea. Reports now indicate that the club is preparing to accept permanent offers for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, after failing to secure a loan deal for him in the summer window.

Maresca on Chukwuemeka’s Future

Before the season started, Maresca praised Chukwuemeka as a “very good player” but expressed doubt about the amount of game time he would get at Chelsea. “Will he play 35 games with us? I’m not sure,” Maresca admitted. He emphasized the need for Chukwuemeka to play consistently, suggesting that a long run of matches would help him regain fitness and prove his quality.

However, Chukwuemeka did not manage to finalize a loan move before the window closed, leaving him in a precarious position with limited playing time at Stamford Bridge. Despite having four years left on his contract, which earns him £100,000 a week, Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell him permanently in January. According to Football Insider, Chelsea are keen to avoid any further loan offers, despite being open to that option over the summer.

Limited Opportunities for Chukwuemeka

Chukwuemeka has struggled to establish himself at Chelsea since joining the club, and his future looks uncertain as he continues to be left out of key matches. He was notably absent from the matchday squad for the Bournemouth win, even though both Enzo Fernandez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were unavailable. Maresca instead chose to pair young defender Renato Veiga with Moises Caicedo in midfield.

Though registered for the Conference League, Chukwuemeka is likely to seek more regular playing time, which could push him towards a permanent exit. Given his age and potential, Chelsea may not take a financial hit on the £20 million they paid for him, despite his underwhelming three seasons at the club. A January transfer might end up being the best outcome for both the player and the club.
